Blue Ridge Parkway

Glendale Springs Inn & Restaurant is located just 0.3 mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway, milepost 259.  This scenic drive runs for 469 miles through Virginia and North Carolina.  If you are traveling through the Blue Ridge Mountains, our Inn is a perfect stop-over. The proximity of the Parkway to the Inn makes it perfect for day trips as well.

Museum of Ashe County History

The museum is located in the former Ashe County Courthouse building, built in 1904, making it a contemporary of the Glendale Springs Inn. The museum houses both permanent and revolving exhibits dedicated to the history of Ashe County, with the building itself being the number one exhibit. There is also a gift shop with local artisan crafts and large selection of regional books.

The Churches of the Frescoes

Two small area churches contain the work of artist Ben Long.  At Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Glendale Springs is Long’s depiction of The Last Supper. Nearby in West Jefferson, St.Mary’s Episcopal Church contains several of his works, including Mary Great with Child and John the Baptist.  Any visit to the area should include these beautiful works of art.
